Some things about me

We often define ourselves by what we do — research, projects, papers. But underneath all that lives a quieter engine: what we love, what fuels us, and what we keep coming back to even when no one’s watching. Here’s a little window into mine.

🎬 Stories that Make You Think

I’m endlessly drawn to documentaries. Not the ones that just present facts — but the ones that peel back the layers of how systems, people, and technologies interact. A good doc can change how you see the world in just 90 minutes.

Some that have stuck with me:

  • The Social Dilemma — for making the abstract machinery of algorithms feel urgent and real
  • Explained — bite-sized brilliance on everything from the mind to money
  • The Great Hack — because data is political, whether we like it or not

🧩 The Puzzle Mindset

If I had to pick a metaphor for how I like to think, it would be puzzles. There’s something deeply calming about the logic of constraints — whether it’s a grid-based puzzle, a messy research question, or a real-world problem.

Give me a tangled problem and some time, and I’m happy.

📊 When Data Meets Humanity

At the heart of my work is a fascination with digital society — how people behave online, what makes information spread, and where things go wrong. Misinformation, radicalization, influence campaigns — these are not just headlines to me, they’re puzzles with real-world stakes.

What excites me is the chance to bring together data, theory, and empathy to try and understand the digital public sphere — and maybe even improve it.

🌌 Curiosity as a Compass

What ties all of this together? Curiosity.

I’m driven by questions more than answers, and by the feeling that there’s always more to uncover — in systems, in people, and in myself. Whether I’m untangling the spread of a false narrative or figuring out a clue in a logic puzzle, the joy is in the process.

Thanks for reading! I’ll be sharing more reflections like this — alongside research — as this blog evolves.
